Nihilist Road Trip
Abstract by Pagani
I was inspired by a bike road trip… things weren’t going all that pleasantly: rain, wind, crap… but it still had its good points. Getting out, being free to go … there is something liberating on a deep emotional level. This sometimes overrides the obvious misery of the current situation.
I realized that life is exactly like this: There is a lot of underlying misery, but most choose to turn a blind eye to it. They do this not because they don’t care about others, but because they have to. Otherwise, the pain of living would be just too great to bear.
There is, however, the option of opening ones’ eyes, seeing the suffering and awfulness that surrounds us every day, and instead of folding up like a cheap deck chair, accepting ‘what is’ …accepting while not condoning or assisting in creating more misery.
It’s a tricky tightrope to walk, but we’ll try to walk it.
